M3: Justify How New Audiences Can be targeted by the New Product

In this report, I will explain how I can use my product to reach lots of different audiences who many be interested in my media product.

First of all, this is the proposal for my product:

My company (Ro-Boot Technologies) is going to create my interactive media product. The new HELP-R 5000 robots are going to revolutionise how we run the world and how we go about our daily lives. These robots are going to be used primarily in the public service industry. My robot is going to help not only businesses, but also those struggling by walking around public spaces. My robot will have different modes you can select so they are suited to the business’s needs. You can select the following modes (you can choose one or several):

  •  Clean the environment and pick up litter.
  • Help signpost the homelessness to shelters, those struggling with mental health and domestic abuse to services and offer them essential information.
  • Patrol the streets and help the police combat crime by live video recording a crime and sending the GPS location to the police. They can also ring emergency services such as an ambulance if someone is severely injured.
  • Can take orders at a restaurant.
  • Can help stock shelves or rails in retail and perform stock takes as well as retrieve items from the back that customers would want to try. Can also transfer stock to different areas or tidy.
  • Will have a screen so we can use the internet (with restrictions).
  • Anti-hack technology.
  • Can direct us using its in built GPS to wherever we need to go if we get lost.
  • Can talk several languages and perform sign language.

My robot will be able to read human emotions using the AI and have sensible conversations with us. Along side this robot, I think it would be a great idea to create a mobile app. This app will allow the owners of the robot to change several settings. For example, they can change what mode they would like the robot to be on. You could also power off the robot using your phone. From the app, you may be able to ask for maintenance services for our robots.

My HELP-R 5000 robots will be eco-friendly. They will be created either from recycled or biodegradable materials. I will power the HELP-R 50000 robots using biomass since this is the main renewable source or energy and my robots can use this.

Target audience

I have decided to target my HELP-R 5000 robots to public service businesses and government services. Retail, Food industry and government services such as the police, litter picker etc. I believe that these companies will fit the explorer psychographics. Robots are still a relatively new technology, so they have not yet been normalised. Innovative companies that strive to keep up to date with new technologies are my target audience. Large companies are more likely to buy my robots since they have a lot of job roles that need filling. I believe that my robot will be very useful for them. They can choose from many different modes for the robot which will sound appealing to my target audience.

How I will Reach New Audiences

As I mentioned above, my primary target audience is businesses. However, futher down the line my robots could be used in our homes. This is another new audience I could target. Marketing wise, I can create social media channels to promote the app and the HELP-R 5000 robots. I could use a social media aggregator such as Hootsuite to easily release the campaign across all of my social media channels at once. I would use Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube and Twitter to target my HELP-R 5000 robots to not just the public, but businesses. Because of globalisation, I can use social media platforms to promote the products globally. Social media is not only used by the public to connect with others globally, but business use social media to interact with their target audiences and as a free way to market their products. I could also have famous influencers promote the app and my product through sponsorships.

My robot will have an app that you can link it to. This app will allow you to change the modes of my robot, power it on/off, contact the customer service team and ask for maintenence for the robot. You can also ask the robot to do things for you when you are not there using the app. This app will be available for free in the Google Play and Apple app stores. This makes way for globalisation since I can distribute the app globally through these app stores. The app itself is a marketing strategy; if my audience enjoys the app they might want to access all the features and buy my robot. Here are some features the app will have to draw in the general public:
  • A mental health tool that allows you to track your mood everyday and learn coping techniques. This tool will also allow you to talk to the AI and gain advice from them as if you have your own personal councillor. This can allow you to take breathing exercises, write your feelings down in a diary, share positive messages with others using app, a self harm counter to see how long you have not self harmed, daily positive messages... As a reward, you may unlock more minigames to play with the AI. It can signpost you to other mental health services.
  • An in built AI chatbot so you can converse with. The AI can play games with you, tell jokes and talk to you etc.
  • Different language options and a language learning tool.
  • Can be used to store analytics for businesses.
  • Accessible for everyone, can use text to speech, make the text and icons larger...
  • Easy to navigate UI.

I could create my own website for the HELP-R 5000 robots. This website would include what my company (Ro-Boot Technologies) does. What the HELP-R 5000 robot is with a video to showcase what it can do. I will also add a contact page so they can ask any questions. I can add an online shop to this website so businesses can buy their HELP-R 5000 robots. To target the public, they can sign in with their app details and use the app through the website.

Ethical Issues

While using the app, an ethical issue I need to think about is weather I tell the users it is an AI robot that you can talk to for a therapist or not. Empathy is a tool that AI cannot posess, so if my AI was empathetic towards the user it may feel forced and fake.

The Data Protection Act ensures that a user's data is protected and not use maliciously. I will make sure that the information is protected and secure and I will not use the information.

To conclude, new audiences can use my app and this would influence them to buy my robot. Social media is a great tool that I would use to market my HELP-R 5000 robots and the app to all of my audiences.
