Project Proposal Treatment- HELP-R 5000 Robot
The client brief has asked me to create a new media product. I decided to focus on the robotics sector. Robotics and AI are constantly developing with Chat GPT being the new online AI tool that can answer questions. There are several robots that have started implementing AI. My media product is where I see the future of robotics.
My Media Product Idea
My company (Ro-Boot Technologies) is going to create my interactive media product. The new HELP-R 5000 robots are going to revolutionise how we run the world and how we go about our daily lives. These robots are going to be used primarily in the public service industry. My robot is going to help not only businesses, but also those struggling by walking around public spaces. My robot will have different modes you can select so they are suited to the business’s needs. You can select the following modes (you can choose one or several):
- Clean the environment and pick up litter.
- Help signpost the homelessness to shelters, those struggling with mental health and domestic abuse to services and offer them essential information.
- Patrol the streets and help the police combat crime by live video recording a crime and sending the GPS location to the police. They can also ring emergency services such as an ambulance if someone is severely injured.
- Can take orders at a restaurant.
- Can help stock shelves or rails in retail and perform stock takes as well as retrieve items from the back that customers would want to try. Can also transfer stock to different areas or tidy.
- Will have a screen so we can use the internet (with restrictions).
- Anti-hack technology.
- Can direct us using its in built GPS to wherever we need to go if we get lost.
- Can talk several languages and perform sign language.
My robot will be able to read human emotions using the AI and have sensible conversations with us. Along side this robot, I think it would be a great idea to create a mobile app. This app will allow the owners of the robot to change several settings. For example, they can change what mode they would like the robot to be on. You could also power off the robot using your phone. From the app, you may be able to ask for maintenance services for our robots.
My HELP-R 5000 robots will be eco-friendly. They will be created either from recycled or biodegradable materials. I will power the HELP-R 50000 robots using biomass since this is the main renewable source or energy and my robots can use this.
Market
I believe my robot fills a gap in the robotics market. There are many robots out there that use AI. However, I realised that all these robots only have one specific purpose. For example, Sophia is a social robot who was created for the sole purpose of having conversations with us. The Atlas robots are made specifically for tasks that require running or parkour. My HELP-R 5000 robots can do several tasks, they are not specifically targeted to do one thing. I believe this is the USP of my robots since businesses may need a robot to perform more than just one type of task. This helps them save money since they don’t have to buy robots that only fit one purpose, and this helps me since the robots will stand out from the market. Furthermore, my robots will contain more advanced AI as well as lots of converging technologies so this will help with their many purposes.
Target audience
I have decided to target my HELP-R 5000 robots to public service businesses and government services. Retail, Food industry and government services such as the police, litter picker etc. I believe that these companies will fit the explorer psychographics. Robots are still a relatively new technology, so they have not yet been normalised. Innovative companies that strive to keep up to date with new technologies are my target audience. Large companies are more likely to buy my robots since they have a lot of job roles that need filling. I believe that my robot will be very useful for them. They can choose from many different modes for the robot which will sound appealing to my target audience.
Benefits and Stakeholders
My HELP-R 5000 robots are one of a kind. There are so many benefits that my robots present. My robot will be built using biodegradable smart materials. These materials will be created using nano technology. This article explains it: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-italy-smartmaterials-eco-robots-idUSKCN0UX25V This is a huge benefit since robots are very damaging to our environment, however my robot will not be. The HELP-R 5000 robots will also run/create energy using biomass.
The main USP/benefit of my robot is it can be used for different purposes. Large businesses will love this since they have many job roles that the robots can help fulfil. This means that businesses can change the mode of the robots if they need a different task completing.
Another benefit of my HELP-R 5000 robots is that they can help fight to solve problems such as homelessness, abuse and mental health illnesses. My robot is equipped to direct those struggling to charities or organisations that can help them with their problems. Some people may be too scared talking to a human about it so they may find it easier talking to one of my robots.
Seeing all these benefits, stakeholders will be interested in my robots. Stakeholders are organisations that will fund my product if they see a future in it. These companies will support me by investing money into my product. In return, stakeholders will get a percentage of earnings from my product. Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, and Meta are just a few companies I believe would invest in my product. These huge tech companies may use my robots for their retail stores for example. Plus, they may be able to sell my robots to other large businesses.
Cost/limitations
Not only are my robots going to be expensive, but the technology that my robots will have integrated into them is not realistic for the time being. Robots like Sophia have the AI capacity, but they still need help from us humans. However, AI and the robotics sector is still developing so I believe my robot is a plausible invention in the future. In general, robots are very expensive since they require lots of components. My robot will be very costly since I am going to create it using nano technology to produce smart biodegradable materials. This is very new tech that scientists have just discovered so it will be incredibly expensive to create my robot. For now, my robot is just an idea for the future. One day I believe we will be able to build my HELP-R 5000 robots and they will help change the world for the better.
